Fly Tying Course
Fredericton Fish & Game will be providing fly tying instruction on 10 Sunday evenings at 7-9pm throughout the winter. Our fly tying registration this year is scheduled for Sunday, 6 January 2019 at 7 pm at the Senior’s Center on Johnston Ave. Folks can pop by to find about the course and register if they like what they hear. We’ll continue to accept registrations for the following couple of weeks too. The regular cost is $50 ($25 for membership plus $25 for the course). For students younger than 16 years of age there is no charge for membership, so the cost is just $25.
For more info, call Rod at 458-5643

Youth Fishing Tournament
Held annually at Killarney lake to coincide with Fish NB Days (first weekend in June), our annual youth fishing derby is always a great time every year with fun for the whole family! Thanks to ERD/DNR, the lake is stocked with brook trout every year and along with the abundance of other fish species such as small mouth bass, perch, sunfish and catfish, it is always a fun and productive day for anglers of all ages. Along with the fishing, we provide food & drinks onsite and lots of prizes in the various age and catch categories. ERD/DNR is on hand with their mobile wildlife display and the City of Fredericton Fire Dept Rescue team as well as local politicians and radio stations are usually in attendance.
**********
We are very thankful to all of those members and others who helped make this event happen by volunteering their time and donating resources.
A big thanks to the many sponsors for without their support this event would probably not happen:
Onsite we had the City of Fredericton - Fire Department Rescue Team, DERD (formerly DNR) staff and event trailer, KHJ Radio broadcasting from the site, Andrew Oliver representing the fishing line products they donate, and our City Councillors who hand out prizes and assist with the cooking. Thanks!
We also have some participants from the Multicultural Association. The FF&G supplies rods and fishing gear to those who do not have it so everyone gets a chance to fish. In addition to being fed, all children received a prize before they leave.

Adopt a Stream
A big part of being responsible sportsmen and women is being a good steward of our resources, the FFG&A helps clean up local streams in the surrounding area annually. Every year we are involved in a garbage cleanup on a local stream. We have been working on the Killarney stream in Fredericton North for many years now.

Shad Fishing on the Miramichi
Every year in June, our members organize a fly fishing outing for American Shad on the Main Sou'West Miramichi. Always a great time fishing for 'the poor man's salmon'!
